Four days of backpacking

through Manipur, and here’s everything I had:
– Yu: local rice liquor, usually homemade and shared in small sips. Very potent!

- Manipuri Fish thali: sticky rice with local fish curry, fermented fish chutney, local greens, and seasonal vegetables. Manipuris eat a lot of freshwater fish.

– Eromba: a spicy mix of boiled veggies and fermented fish, served as a side.

– Lal cha: Manipuri red tea, brewed without milk, with a hint of lemon.

– Khajing bora: crispy shrimp pakoras popular in local markets (Mother's market) and roadside dhabas

– Chak-Hao Kheer (Black rice pudding): made from sticky black rice native to Manipur.

– Chicken curry with rice: wholesome, homestyle with local herbs. Very pungent!

Plus found Chang Thailand beer

and Vietnamese coffee

in Imphal's growing cafe scene.
