5 spectacular places to go trekking in Goa

Goa has earned the reputation as one of the most happening tourist destinations not only in India but across the world. It is famous for the beaches, nightlife, seafood and the flea markets. Goa has a vibrant culture and a vibe which attracts every kind of traveller. It has a coastline of about a hundred kilometres and quite a few number of beaches which offer numerous adventure activities. One of the many things to do in Goa is to explore its natural beauty through trekking. Apart from its popular beaches and nightlife, trekking is one of the top activities in Goa for you to indulge in. Here are my top five places to go trekking in Goa, and the best part, these are family friendly treks.

Netravali trek

There is a multiple of waterfalls along the five km trail at Netravali making it one of the most exciting treks in Goa. It is a muddy trail with green paddy fields, and an exotic range flora and fauna can be found here. The Savari waterfall at Netravali is divided into a 20 feet fall and the other which is 40 feet, and you can reach the base of the falls. The force of the fall is extremely strong; hence it is slightly risky to stand for too long at the base. No doubt, the Netravali trek is one of the most adventurous things to do in Goa.

Kuskem waterfall trek

The Kuskem waterfall is located in South Goa in the Kuskem village. The ideal time to do this trek is during the monsoon season when the landscape is a carpet of green. The milky waterfall at Kuskem is 20 feet high and definitely one of the popular activities to do in Goa.

Pali waterfall trek

An extremely picturesque trek in Goa, Pali waterfall is popularly known as Shivling waterfall, and is one of the best activities in Goa. It is located in a small village called Valpoi, surrounded by dense forests trails. The six km trail will take you through muddy paths, rocky tracks, rugged terrains and wild bushes before you’re blessed with a spectacular view of the waterfall.

Dudhsagar waterfall trek

Hands down, the Dudhsagar waterfall trek is one of the best things to do in Goa. It is a very popular trekking destination during the monsoon season. The falls have an altitude of 310 meters and are one of the highest waterfalls in India. The trail route has a unique flora and fauna with breathtaking views of the dense forest cover. It lies very close to the Karnataka border in the Sanguem district, and you can easily hire taxis to reach the waterfalls.

Hivrem waterfall trek

The Hivrem waterfall is about 75 km from Panjim. The trek is slightly difficult as compared to the others, which in my opinion makes it one of the exciting things to do in Goa. It will take about 45 minutes to reach the peak, but once you are at the top, the view of the spectacular Hivrem waterfall from there is worth the effort.

Where to stay in Goa

One of the best resorts in Goa for your stay is the Club Mahindra Goa Resort . They offer spacious and comfortable rooms with all modern amenities, especially if you’re travelling with a family. They also have an in-house restaurant that serves authentic Konkani food. Visit the property’s website to read the Club Mahindra reviews from tourists who’ve been there and had a memorable stay.
