Best places to shop in Mussoorie

Mussoorie is a beautiful Indian hill station, famous for its colonial charm, gorgeous churches and picturesque surroundings. Regardless of whether you are a shopping addict or not, Mussoorie’s local markets such as the Tibetan Market, Gandhi Chowk and others will leave you swooning over the variety of products at attractive prices. Here are my ‘Best places to shop in Mussoorie’.

1. Mall Road

Best places to shop in MussoorieThis is the main centre for shopping in Mussoorie. Most of this hill station’s famous stores are located here. The shops sell everything from apparel to electronic items and daily goods. You can get a good deal if you have decent negotiation skills as bargaining is a common practice.

2. Tibetan Market

The Tibetan Market, conveniently located on Mall Road, is a must visit if you like handcrafted and quirky souvenirs. Its variety of choice and colourful stalls also make it one of the places to see in Mussoorie for its rustic charm. This market is always full of energy, with small shops selling colourful woollens straight from Tibet. The market is also known for its footwear and carpets.

3. Kulri Bazaar

If you are a shopping addict and looking to buy quirky stuff in Mussoorie, then Kulri Bazaar is where you should head. It is a one-stop shopping hotspot that has a vast collection of handicrafts, apparels, jewellery and more. Kulri Bazaar is Mussoorie’s most famous market after Mall Road.

What to buy in Kulri Bazaar: Apparels, Handicrafts, Jewellery, Shoes

Timings: 9am – 7pm

4. Landour Bazaar

Add a little nostalgia to your shopping spree by visiting one of Mussoorie’s oldest markets and get a better understanding of the history of the city. Celebrities are known to flock to the local cobblers here to order fabulously designed custom leather shoes and sandals. This market is especially popular for its Roman sandals. You can also buy fluffy woollens, exquisite artefacts and delicate china here.

Timings: 10am – 8pm

5. Himalayan Weavers

This market should be on the list of every ecologically aware person as it sells hand-woven products that are dyed with eco-friendly natural colours. Even the yarn here is spun by hand, giving it a special soft feel. This store is a local cooperative that is run by a British national.

Timings: 10am – 8pm

6. Gandhi Chowk

Gandhi Chowk, earlier known as Library Bazaar is not just a great shopping destination but is also one of the places to see in Mussoorie. Conveniently organised in a circular path, the bazaar has numerous small shops. This place is mainly famous for its Chinese vases, trinkets and keepsakes. This is one of the best places for shopping in Mussoorie as the products you get here are value for money.
